Sumitomo Mitsui Construction group's near-term science-based emissions reduction target has been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd. (2-1-6, Tsukuda, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. President: Shigetoshi Kondo) is pleased to announce that its group's near-term science-based emissions reduction target has been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)(*).

【Approved Target as SBT (compared to FY 2020 levels) 】

Scope 1+ Scope 2         : FY 2030 -50%

Scope 3 (Category 1+ Category 11) : FY 2030 -25%

Sumitomo Mitsui Construction group will continue its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve SBT and contribute to climate change countermeasures.

(*)The SBT Initiative is an international climate change initiative established in 2015 by CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, WRI (World Resources Institute), and WWF (World Wildlife Fund), an international NGO on environmental information disclosure. To achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, SBT encourages companies around the world to set Science-Based Targets (SBT) for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
